This is an excellent book. It focuses on each of the days of the last week of the Savior's life, providing sound Bible scholarship and inspiring spiritual insights. Reading each chapter on each day of the week leading up to Easter was a perfect way to celebrate the Holy Week. I will probably do it again next year, and I will probably also by Huntsman's other books with a similar format (he has one on Christmas and another on Jesus' miracles).Product details

Growing up in a home with two different predominant Christian religions gave me some insight into Holy Week and palm Sunday, but I never fully understood the meaning of The Passion of Christ. This book brings the last week of Christ's mortal life into focus. After reading God So Loved The World, I have a deeper knowledge of the events that led up to his Crucifixion and the ressurrection. Eric Huntsman uses scriptural passage from the Synoptic Gospels, words to hymns, sidebars and text boxes to weave a full portrait of each day of the week leading up to the final events of Easter. He also adds geographical photographs of surrounding areas Bethany and Jerusalem, plus fine art depictions of mentioned scenes to appeal to the visual learner. Mr. Huntsman's rich knowledge and personal feelings of Christ's sacrifice highlight depth and meaning that goes beyond just facts.
As a society we tend to place a huge focus on Christmas and forget to prepare ourselves for the miraculous event that occurred at the garden tomb. God So Loved the World points out numerous times that "without Easter there would be no Christmas."
I will be passing this book on to my family members and applying the suggestions given for preparing for Easter beginning this Sunday. It was a timely read for me, and I have to thank Deseret Book for giving us a beautifully crafted account of Holy Week, and a wonderful tool to be used in teaching our children about Christ's life here on earth.
This is a very beutifully written and illustrated book. We considered the kindle version but decided that it was nicer to have a real printed book with the glossy pictures. Very nice.
I really enjoyed ! It a great job to put all the Gospels in harmoney ! It also had beautiful pictures. Most important , it helped me understand and Love the Savior more !
I absolutely loved this book. it was very informative about the resurrection of Christ. Beautifully illustrated with pictures that help with understanding. i will definitely read this every Easter.

I bought this book on the recommendation of a friend and am so glad I did. It has a separate chapter for each day of Holy Week beginning with Palm Sunday. I have been reading one chapter per night to review what Jesus did each day between his triumphant entrance into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday and his glorious Resurrection on Easter Sunday. Although familiar with the Gospel and some of the events that took place that week, I never really connected them with specific days, especially what occurred on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. It is a great way to have a devotional each night in preparation for Easter. I am single, but it would be ideal for families to read together each night. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to really celebrate Easter week and what took place leading up to the atonement and Resurrection.
Wow!!! I purchased this book to prepare myself spiritually for Easter, and to teach my children more about the Savior and His life and teachings, and it did not disappoint. This book is a tremendous resource and I'm thrilled with it! It is chock full of gorgeous, full-color paintings and photographs as well as insightful, educational text. The author takes his readers through each day of the last week of the Savior's life masterfully, leaving no stone unturned. He also suggests hymns and classical music to sing and listen to throughout the week, and I really appreciate his unique, tasteful choices. I love this book, and know that I will pull it off the shelf at least once a year and read it cover-to-cover again and again. I plan on buying Huntsman's Christmas Advent book, as well, later on in the year!
