This book is pretty amazing. I finished it a bit ago, but I had to wait till the tiny flying robots reassembled my brain after it exploded from book bliss.This book is like the best memory you have of the best thing you ever read when you were younger, but adapted for you now.
It's got friends, family, the rotten and the self-made kind, adventure, mystery, science, secrets revealed and kept, hidden worlds, girls that you want to be your best friend, or your daughter. Did I mention robots? Rocket Ships? How about rocket ship races? How about a sweet, brilliant, messed-up boy who has to learn to be loved? Also Robots, giant ones, tiny ones, ones that can be a better parent than your crappy ones.
It doesn't get better than this.
Read it!

I read this to my 10yo son and we both loved it. The language is not dumbed down at all but the concepts are squarely aimed at tween/teen audiences.
We can't wait for any further adventures in store for Daniel & Co!
I liked this book, but it was more of a juvenile story. If allowed partial ratings I would have given it 3.75 stars. (75%).
So... Boy is growing up with evil parents who drain his blood every few weeks. Then he finds a robot in the woods and repairs it. Soon he is racing rocketships and battling robots.
This story is well written, but should be aimed at a target audience of young teenage boys.
well written, fast paced, book probably intended for young adult crowd. some parallels to Harry Potter series, secret world hidden from muggles, boy ends up in a secret school for technologically gifted, finds himself with professors against him and dangerous situations that require his unique skills to survive. This doesn't distract from the book at all. In fact, these seem to all be part of a formula than successfully adapted to the science fiction genre.
